today, he is 63. and he’s married to Iman. win win dude.
this is one of my favorite tunes of his from his 1977 album Low.
it has so much attitude and funk and GUITARS.
the only bad thing about it is that it’s too short &
i have to play it over and over and over again.
and that’s not even really that bad.
happy birthday, sir.

yowza.

get it here.
you can read the lyrics there, too.
don’t sleep on this lady’s gift for wordplay
and visualization.
it’s great to see the progression in a band.
georgie, tara and derreck filled my inbox with
songs. division of joy from georgie, of course.
i wasn’t an instant believer.
or rather i hadn’t given anything i was
sent a fair listen.
my partners were riding for them hard
but it wasn’t until after rare form did j*davey
at canal room in nyc, that i was SOLD. super sold.
their live show was so fresh and stimulating.
they’ve been working hard to bring something
honest and different to those
who still find musicanship and innovation
sexy and interesting. i love it.
support good music!
when she floated in like a butterfly
with like a star, i fell in love with her voice.
the more i listened & learned about her
i fell in love with her as a lyricist and a musician.
one morning, i heard on the news that
she’d lost the love of her life.
her husband of 8 years died suddenly.
death by “misadventure”.
then she vanished. understandably so.
She did a lovely interview with The Guardian,
discussing what’s been going on in her life,
her loss, and her return to music.
i’m glad she’s back with The Sea.
I particularly like i’d do it all again.
full of pain and healing. sadness and light.
this video proves why some songs
just NEED to be heard live.
welcome back Mrs. Bailey Rae.
so glad you’re here.
work it bitches.

Darine Stern. Playboy, October 1971.
out of the box. out of the bag.
just OUT there.
and pretty awesome.

they’re good for you.
take a LISTEN.
DANCE. thank me later.
i thought i knew what to say.
hey, what do i know?

elijah’s birthday was fantastic.

our atlanta family was also in attendance,
making for a perfect one year celebration.
more photos are fast approaching.
